Are you familiar with botox? Did you know it can arch your brows if you have a naturally straight shape? This is my favorite new tool for aching my brows, and you can get it done every 3-6 months! Here's the skinny on the "b" word:
Lines, wrinkles and furrows can appear as we age from years of squinting, concentrating and frowning. Botox or Dysport is a prescription medication that is injected into specific muscles of the face to reduce strong muscle activity that causes repeated contractions. Botox has been used in cosmetic procedures in the US since 2002 with almost 12 million treatments performed. Botox is also FDA-approved to treat migraine headaches and excessive sweating called hyperhidrosis.
Botox or Dysport treatments can be performed in about 10 minutes and is minimally painful, oftentimes feeling like small “bee stings” for a few seconds. There is virtually no pain or downtime after the procedure unless a small bruise occurs which is very unlikely. The effects of Botox or Dysport do not take place for a few days and can take up to 2-3 weeks to see the final results. Most patients enjoy a subtle softening or elimination of their lines resulting in a relaxed, natural appearance. Results typically last 3-6 months depending on the strength of your muscles and amount of medication used.
I have been noticing more and more brown spots on my face, some about the size of a dime. I don't wear make up that frequently and the spots are starting to get darker on my cheek bones. About a month ago I had the opportunity to check out a clinic in Prairie du Sac that offered services to remove or lighten these spots. Rejuvenation Clinic of Sauk Prairie is owned and operated by Michelle Niesen, MS, PA-C. She has a great staff on board that make you feel comfortable and discrete. I had an appointment for a consultation, which is complimentary, and they took pictures with different filters to show my UV damage, wrinkles, and other possible skin issues. While looking at my wrinkles on the screen i was amazed how much i raised my brows when i talk and express myself. So we added on a little Botox to my consultation. This was injected into the middle of my brows, the sides of my brows and a tiny bit into my chin. These were the areas that i showed "strong" muscle strength. It felt like little pinches, not bad though. I did have a headache for a couple of days after. That subsided and my brows lifted into a perfect arch, not one i could get from waxing! FAVORITE part! For my friends and family that knew i was scheduled for a laser peel they thought I had already had the treatment, my skin looked smooth and fresh. below are my before and afters. Subtle, but amazing :) If you have any questions please feel free to ask me while in my chair. Anything you share or ask is confidential.
As for the brown spots they suggested a broadband and laser peel. I just had my broadband and laser peel this friday, I will keep you updated on that treatment next time.
